As public awareness of the health risks associated with obesity, including hypertension, diabetes and joint problems, continues to grow and with bariatric surgery becoming more available, it is not uncommon to see patients losing large amounts of weight – often up to 10 stones.

Following weight loss of this nature plastic surgery can be necessary to correct a number of aesthetic problems, many of which are associated with excess skin.

What can I expect before surgery?

Patients must have maintained a stable weight for at least a year before undergoing surgery. As part of the pre-operative evaluation the surgeon will also run a variety of physiological and psychological screening tests in order to confirm that the patient is properly nourished and mentally prepared for surgery.

Is it possible to have a combination of procedures done at the same time?

Yes, it is normal for patients undergoing plastic surgery after weight loss to undergo a combination of procedures. Combinations can include some, or all, of the following procedures: abdominoplasty, arm reduction, breast surgery, facial surgery, thigh reduction.

To this day I still believe it was the best decision I have ever made, My operation has totally changed my life and turned it around, I can wear any top I like with or without a bra and it actually feels good. I’ve definitely got my feminine side back.
